I am doing a molecular biology research program at Rutgers University , where we, the scholars, will sequence/read the DNA of a organism whose DNA in not already known. It is called Waksman Student Scholar Program. Should I include this on the application? Will it even help? How would I go about putting it on the application?

If you are applying to the engineering school, I'd say that this will definately help as they are looking for students who demonstrate an intrest in science. For CC, I wouldn't know, but I would venture to guess that it really couldn't hurt. Put everything down on your application, even if you think its something stupid, they might not.

I think the application has a section for what you did over the summer. You can put it in there.

I think this could really help your chances. Especially if you write something meaningful about what you learned doing the program.

I will be applying ED at CC.

it will ask about your summer activities, so you will definitely be putting it on your application. write about it if you have a great experience and learn something valuable, and I think you will.

good luck! i was accepted ED and love it there.

Congrats on making the program! Isn't it an honor/award as well to be chosen?

if you do RSI, that will help you get into anywhere =)

yeah!!!!!
lol

what is RSI?

highly competitive MIT summer research program

Answer to the first post: YES, it will definitely help. Unless you have something else really special to write about, some life-changing experience, I'd write about that in your essay! Really highlight it.

Then I saw that you're EDing to CC. Although this summer program is going to be a big boost for your application, CC is MUCH harder to get into than SEAS. Why not aim for Biomedical Engineering, what you are doing now is closely related, and that's in SEAS. Early Decisioning to SEAS=odds in your favor. Early Decisioning to CC=You could still get in, although it seems more likely if you go SEAS.
