My son applied by Nov 1 deadline.
The SAT score he took earlier was not too high so took SAT again on November 3.
Will the Nov 3 score be considered or even looked at for the early action?
Does he need to update anything on the Penn state application or on college board or is the new score will be sent to Penn State automatically?
Should he email the admissions office to ask to consider November SAT results?
Usually the deadline means the application is COMPLETE by that date. It is likely that they will only consider his scores in by Nov 1 for EA. But they can look at his new scores if deferred to regular decision. I’m not sure if the new scores are sent automatically - you will want to double check that they were sent to Penn State and make sure they get there by the 30th for the regular decision deadline.
@dsnytkine So, dealt with a similar situation today. My son applied by 11/1 but received his Oct ACT score today which was higher. We emailed with PSU admissions. The said we do not have to update the SRAR for this (however, other schools you may have to fyi), they will match the score when it is sent in with his application. He will need to send it in though through SAT asap. We also asked if it may change his EA status to Priority. She said she thinks the score should be in on time to still be reviewed as Early, but she did indicate that it is possible his status could be changed to Priority (the 11/30 date) depending on when the score gets processed. We will follow back up with her in a week to confirm they got the score and if he is still considered EA. Since the SAT is 11/3, then having to wait for results may push him out to Priority. I would email admissions to find out for sure. She did indicate that there is not academic review difference between that two deadlines. Hope not too confusing.
