I have heard that ED is a boost to admission at the smaller schools. Has this been anyone's experience?

Thank you for your help

It could possibly, but ED pools at all schools are usually very competitive. This year for instance ED raised the median SAT. I would recommend it because even if you, worst case, are deferred you are indicated as a student who has Colby as their top choice.

Yes. A quick look at Colby’s Common Data Set for 2011-12 shows that 445 ED apps were received and 226 were accepted, for a 50.8% acceptance rate. The overall acceptance rate was 1527 acceptances out of 5186 applications, or 29%. If you strip out the early apps and acceptances, the regular round acceptance rate was 1301/4741 or 27%.

So yes, you almost double your chance of admittance by applying early. But you need to be sure about the choice and financially able to attend without comparing packages from multiple schools. Good luck!

What’s your file like?

ACT (only taken once will take again) 27

Aim for 31+/2100+ and then your ED odds will improve considerably.
