Current GPA: 3.56
I was wondering if I do extremely well during the Fall Term of 2016 and raise my GPA, will that help towards my applications? And if Yes, how will I even report my grades after they are finalized?

Yes fall grades are considered. In January, you will receive an email asking you to add your fall grades and input your planned classes for spring.
It looks good to have good grades in the fall, furthermore, because the UCs like upward trends. So if you do perform well, that will reflect well upon you, and definitely boost your chances.
@goldencub I’m in a similar boat as OP here. If I get a 4.0 this Fall in 3 courses (14 semester units of work), and with one W in a major pre-requisite math course for a science major, will that look bad? or would a 3.8 with a B (or even a C) in the W course be preferable? I too am trying to turn this Fall semester into a “proof of upward trend” thing but not sure how effective it will be if I have a W or if I get a B or C (I’m confident I can get As in the rest of my classes, which are also major prereqs STEM stuff). My current GPA is 3.47. Two 4-unit and 1-unit Cs and the rest of my grades are an even split of As and Bs, with As beating the Bs just a tiny bit.
@otoribashi You should avoid getting a W in a major requisite. Can you take a class P/NP to make your work load easier?
B > W > C. I’d risk getting a B. What are you majoring in?
