I got into an accident recently, and was told by the police that I have to appear in court. Will this hurt my chances of getting into the college that I want to go to?

I am applying to NYU, SVA, and SAIC.

I don’t know the complete story from what you provide. If all you are talking about is (a) a minor traffic accident in which no one was injured, and (b) simply getting a ticket for a minor offense such as failing to yield, then likely you have something that is simply a normal traffic ticket, which you will have to reveal along with the result when you apply but it will have no impact. If the accident was worse than that, such as someone was injured and you are being accused of something like reckless driving then the last thing you should be thinking about is college impact because you should be focusing on hiring a lawyer immediately because you could be going to jail.
