Will I be at a disadvantage in the admissions process?

Hello! I’m an international student applying to bates. I sent a request for toefl waiver which was granted, but bates being test optional I decided not to send my sat scores as well. Do you think it’ll be weird that I won’t be sending any standerdized scores? Will that put me at a disadvantage in getting accepted for others who are submitting theirs?

Hi - speaking from my son’s situation only, he elected to not submit test scores and was accepted to Bates. He’s a sophomore this year and is a very happy Bobcat.

@BTMell‌ did your son have an extremely high gpa that made up for not submitting the test scores? I am applying to Bates and thinking about not submitting scores, but I don’t want this to hurt me in the applications process, especially since my GPA is not outstanding, but average for Bates.

He had a solid GPA but not extremely high at all. Our high school doesn’t offer AP classes but he did take honors classes - I’m sure that helped. I believe Bates admissions when they say that scores are optional. If you elect to submit them, then they will be considered but if you elect to not, it’s not held against you.

We applied ED just in the last few days. Mine comes from a well known catholic prep school and his GPA has risen steadily since starting high school from a 3.6 to a 4.0 in the most recent quarter.

Good luck to your son, @Artie123‌ !

Thanks…his pre-read was a go but still fingers crossed
