Will I ever become a nurse?

I have recently turned 15 years old (my birthday took place a little over a month ago.) I have wanted to become a nurse for roughly three years now. I have not taken a course in Biology yet, but I enjoy reading about genetics, human anatomy, etc. I am looking forward to taking Biology next year as a sophomore, and AP Biology later on in my high school career. I have maintained an A+ in Chemistry both semesters, but I am worried that I will lose my ability to learn different academic topics… and I suppose that most of the time, I worry that I may be of below average intelligence.

I am also worried that I may have clinical depression and anxiety (my therapist is working to help me start taking Lexapro, though my parents do not want me to.)

Do I have any chance of becoming a nurse?

Yes, of course you do! You are off to a good start too.

Work on getting your anxiety under control first, as it will help make the next steps feel much easier. Hopefully your therapist can ease your parents’ concerns. They deal with that all the time.

Take Chem, Bio, Physics and AP Bio or AP Chem.
Do well in your other classes.
When you can, start to volunteer at a hospital or nursing home to get an idea of what it is like working with patients.
