Hi everyone,

I'm looking into applying to NYU...I'm a gay male and would like to go to an openly-gay school but am wondering the type of gay people there are at NYU...I'm more reserved and don't really like to party, drink, etc. and would like to find someone who's not a "crazy liberal." That's being mean but that's how people have been described who go there...I want to NYU but also want to be in a relationship...so basically, are there more non-party and more down-to-earth gay guys in NYU? In other words...are there non-stereotypical gay guys in NYU?

Thanks,

there's also me if i get in off the wait list, which most likely won't happen so i don't even know why i am posting this and now i'm starting to sound bitter. haha i need to chill out. But i am liberal but i don't know what people really mean when they say "crazy liberals", since i usually hear people like Rush Limbaugh and his brainwashed followers use that phrase and they can't be taken seriously. Wow i really need to chill out.

Anyway, at a school with around 20,000 undergrads with a large gay population, i'm sure you won't have any trouble finding a guy thats right for you. And even if you don't find any guys you like at nyu, there's this gigantic city called New York City where you can find any type of person in the world. If I were you I would definitely apply and pray to the gods that you will not get rejected or waitlisted. :)

jon2562: I've been a Peer Educator with the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Student Services for four years now, so I have a decent sense of the queer community here at the NYU. Sure, we have our Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland fans here, but the gay male community is pretty diverse, I'd say. Just remember that the loudest and most visible members of a community don't necessarily represent the community as a whole, and I think you'll do just fine. :) Hope you apply to this great school.

thanks so much for the responses...I appreciate them a lot...It really broadens my scope..I'm definitely applying...I'm coming to visit next weekend so hopefully I see what I like :)...
