None of it, it’s the need package. The loans said estimated 7k and unmet need 2k

Okay, the way I’m reading the numbers, it deducted your whole EFC (as expected) and they likely will expect a further student contribution of $2839. That will leave you with $12,151 to pay out of pocket. It looks like they’re already including the full $5500 freshman Stafford loan and an additional $2460 in work study in your $47K estimated aid package (which is also a normal practice, but confusing to some), so those funds won’t be available to help meet the $12K shortfall… and work-study actually has to be earned anyway assuming you can find a position. It looks like a decent package for a $56K school, but you’ll want to have a plan for paying the extra $6K or so each semester and may want to discount the work-study award entirely!

r0k, pretty sure you’re reading that wrong. Your net cost (out of pocket) is $20K…that’s the $12K (EFC + unmet need) plus the $8K (loans + workstudy). Stafford loans and work study are considered need-based aid…strange though that may seem.

If that is your OFFICIAL award, that is terrific. Hopefully that is what you will receive from them when they award you your REAL financial aid package. Until then…do get that email written for the ED extension…and then hope for the best.

^^Oh okay, I didn’t really understand what that was but now I do. Thanks.
