Will i get accepted to university of minnesota (Golden Gopher Fast Application)

I recieved the Golden Gopher Fast Application (no app fee, no essay, and possible scholarship) in the mail and in my email. I have never sent to this school before for info, and i am wondering if they are interested. I don't even know if i'm qualified but it's God's will. I applied to other colleges but i was just wondering what anyone thinks about this.
Also:
I am a black/female
3.3 GPA
21ACT (crappy score couldn't retake because lack of funds and no more waivers by the time I was about to fill out my retake package)
alot of extracurricular activities in school and a couple outside (involving church)

I just curious and thanks for any replies.

Just answered you other post.

Apply but also apply to back up schools. I don’t know the schools in MN but are there less competitive state schools you can apply to?

I also recieved the Golden Gopher Fast Application a few months ago, it was exciting since I had already started a application with the school.

Well I don’t think it means you will get an accepted, jeez… I don’t even know if it means the school is interested in the student. Though since you have the application, if you have interest in attending the school simply apply and see what happens. Definately apply else where though.

I don’t know if you will be accepted. I do know that U Minn. isn’t able to meet the full documented financial need of most students it accepts, so if you need financial aid, make sure that you apply to a school that you know you can afford and will be accepted to. For many people, that’s a local community or 4-year in state public college that they can commute to.

As is the case for most public universities in the country, U Minn. accepts students mainly based on their grades and scores.

If you need advice on where to apply so you’re sure to gain acceptances to some schools that you can afford, seek advice on Parents Forum here.

I believe that some college admissions officers will waive app fees for you if your GC asks for you or if you contact them and provide them some kind of proof that you’re low income. Worth a try…

No they are not interested perse, if you live in Minnesota and have taken the PSAT you get this app. They are just trying to attract more students with the no fee, no essay, whole deal.

You might have a chance, im gonna say about 40%. They usually take a much higher gpa and act score than yours, but hopefully (to be blunt) your race and ECs will pull you through. good luck!

University of MN Twin Cities is an amazing school, its tough though. Its really pretty too!

I always thought since I didn’t finish my regular application, and did the Golden Goper Fast Application that the school may think thats the only reason I’ve applied… and in that sense it can hurt ones application?

ok thanks, just wondering. :)

Hey, does anyone know how long it takes to get the UMN application back? I had my full application in on November 6th and my friends got their acceptance letters, I haven’t got anything yet. My friends sent there’s in one to two weeks before me and have had their letters for a while.

One of them even got two acceptance letters from the same school…?

I have an average GPA of 3.98, great EC’s, worked at the same job for three years, do a lot of community service, 2 AP classes this year and a college writing class.

I hope they reply soon!

sjoester92…I think the difference may be that your friends got their apps in before the early response deadline of Nov 1, which may have put their applications into a different pool for decisions than yours. Your application will fall under the regular decision Rolling Admissions category which may take a little longer for the Admissions folks to process. If your stats are fairly strong (is your GPA on a 4.0 scale?), (ACT/SAT scores?) they may process your appa little sooner. Good Luck!!

Your black and female? Someone was born lucky. Your in

Hi…I was just wondering does anyone know the stats on # of minorities accepted?
I’m a senior
Somali/Muslim
ACT-16
GPA-2.98
applied for FALL 2011
4 students with ACT’s at 16 also minorities were accepted in my school

and im first generation student in my family

how does one get a golden gopher application? i would very much like to have a waived fee.

Has anyone received a waived fee application? It was probably a 2009 promotion or something…

My friend received one a month ago so I know its still going on. But she never contacted or signed up for anything Minnesota related at all. Weird. I would really like to get one though. Would it be rude to simply email admissions about it? I just don’t want to pay $55 if I can get it waived. But I don’t know if the golden gopher app is only given to certain types of students???

My son has the fast, no-fee application. It’s just a matter of listing contact info, senior-year courses, and ECs, and then sending transcripts and SAT/ACT scores. I do9n’t know how interested he is in UMN, but it’s intriguing and I think he’ll send it in.

what do you mean its a matter of listing all that info? your son applied and submitted his application to UM and THEN received the fast free application waiver? or where are you saying he listed this information.

I really would like to get a fast free app

No, you should receive it by e-mail. I don’t think that you can request it. They just send it to you based on your PSAT/ACT, I think.

So did you get accepted at the end?
