i realy want to go to this school, but i am out of state (VA to be exact) and i know it is hard and expensive to get in if you are OOS but i was kinda hoping that maybe i could get some sort of grant, merit, scholarship, finantial aid, or whatever. the thing is that the high school i go to does not offer AP anymore, they have this thing called the Cambridge Program, which replaces AP for AICE(Advanced Int'l Certificate of Edu). and the AICE diploma is what i have. so here are the stats

SAT: 2080
ACT: 31
GPA:4.04(weighted) and 3.73(unweighted)
Class Rank: 18 of 480ish (so about top 4%)

*played softball all 4yrs of high school, in Key Club, in American Red Cross Club, in FBLA, in National Society of High School Scholars, in Spanish Honor Society, part of Leardership Seminar, and do voluteer work at a Nursing Home

what are my chances??????

First of all, wrong forum. You didn’t realize, right? ;)

Anyway, I’d say you have a chance, but certainly not a great one. You’re scores aren’t all that much stronger than applicants on the whole. But, I’ve heard that UNCCH values athleticism, so emphasize that.

I think you have a decent shot. If you were in state you’d be in no question, of course OOS is much more difficult.

Why would you want to go to UNC, ewww.

Why not UVA?

UNC >>> UVA, more fun :D

I’d like to think you could get in.

You have a good shot. However, don’t bank on it.

You would be slam dunk in if in-state. IMO its even money, just b/c they have so few slots for OOS.

I know someone who also played varsity softball all four years in HS, essentially had the same SAT score as the OP, applied from in-state, and was denied.

but…i think you have a decent shot, even though being OOS is going to hurt you a lot

just apply. you never know.

I wouldn’t bank on it but you have a fairly decent shot. (Just to let you know I got into UNC OOS, and know a couple of others who did as well, so I know what you need to have).
