lol okay as long as they dont have a prob with it then you should be good, still thats a ton of essays! you’re definitely ambitious haha
can i ask why you want to transfer though, especially as a junior? just curious.

to put it simply I didnt know where I wanted to go and what I wanted to study. I figured the states flagship school would be a good start. I would much rather be in a city there is very little to do here on the weekends besides drink.(which I am not usually doing on the weekends) I want all that a city has to offer. Also penn state is huge and I think it will be better to go to a smaller school. Lastly their econ program is not nearly as good as what I wanted and I know I can handle a more rigorous program towards a degree that will have more value in the job market.

I’d say 3.7 makes you competitive for all your schools and everything but HY should be easily attainable. I think HY will probably depend on luck, like everyone else.

Okay thanks for you thoughts. If I can get the one class off my transcript(its a long story) I will have a 3.89 :)

I think you have a cgreat chance of getting into most of the colleges on your list. Harvard and Yale are unpreictable at best and predicting your chances for these two is impossible. Other than that, the rest seems legitimately likely. Columbia especially because of the legacy. IMO, Columbia has a really great campus so you should definitely put more heart into those essays.

Awesome, I haven’t been able to visit yet however I think I am going to go this month! My cousin goes there as well and he loves it. Behind philly(which is my home city) NYC is my favorite city for sure.

You have really nice EC’s
I’d say all of the schools except for HYBC are very possible for you with all those internships. It’s a tough call cuz transfering into an Ivy League school is pretty hard for anyone.

Yea definitely. Thanks for your thoughts. I am working hard to get my gpa above a 3.85 before apps go out and my recs should be pretty outstanding so we will see.

Your EC’s are way above and beyond. I don’t even know how you have the time to complete all those internships. They are definitely your strong points and should be the focus of your essays (focus on the positives, don’t make excuses in your essays!) Now your GPA is very competitive and while it may not be a 4.0, it truly won’t make any difference. GPA isn’t a measure of your personal academic prowess, but rather is way to compare you to other students in your major. A 3.7 in economics may be more difficult to achieve than a 4.0 in some other major. And if you are the valedictorian of your major, you’ve got it. Hook, line, and sinker!

Just keep in mind, even the most qualified applicants to Colombia, Harvard, etc. still have a very low chance of getting in. I read in a NYTimes article that if Stanford chose a completely different incoming class out of the applications received, they would have just as competitive of a student body. In the end, it’s just a roll of the dice. The trick is getting into the lottery pool.

haha, I see. The work in those fields has been awesome and I still would like to keep pursuing internships for sure to figure out what types of employment interest me the most upon graduation. Thanks a lot for your response, really eye opening and descriptive.

Thanks for chancing and I will!

@collegeponderer what do you think about Upenn?

Wow, I’m garbage compared to you. Great chance for each school!

haha don’t say that. I was an awful student in high school but managed to figure things out in college. For some people things just click when you leave for college. I don’t know how else to put it. Stay involved and do as much outside the classroom as you can. It will all pay off. (hopefully in my case haha)

Hey Jake,
Thank you so much for chancing me, but I have to apologize, because I know absolutely nothing about transfers, although you look like a very strong applicant. You would be even stronger if your GPA was a little higher though.
Thanks

I mean I really don’t know a lot about transfers, but i’ll do my best

@satsarecool thanks for chancing seems pretty realistic

I want to start out by saying sorry if this repeats what anyone has already said.

I highly agree with Bound4Harvard’s chancing for you. To me, your grades are above the “cut,” and if I understand correctly, all that matters when many of the applicants have the same grades are the extracurriculars and extra things.
That being said, I think that the sophomore economics research stands out, as well as the fact that you were involved with three of them. Being the president and founder of an economics society also adds to the uniqueness.

From what I read, it seems as if you have high leadership skills, which will be very helpful in any interviews that you may have.

Overall, I think that you have a very strong profile and have a slight (Harvard/Yale) to fairly strong (UPenn, Villanova, NYU) chance of get accepted. Good luck with your endeavors!
