Will I get into Ohio State University???

Hello all. I want to go to Ohio State University and study Operations Research at the Graduate Level. I have a Bachelor in math from California State University, Sacramento with a 3.24 GPA. I want to go to school in Ohio because I want to live somewhere new so I can reinvent myself and Ohio lets veterans pay In-state tuition.

I have a few questions for all who know anything about Ohio State University(OSU):

1) I plan on taking the GRE soon and getting my completed application to them mid Feb.; would you consider this applying late and will it hurt my chances of being admitted? Today is 1/06/2009.

2) How hard is it to get into their Industrial Engineering program--it is ranked #14 by US news.

3) Will I get in? How many students do they admit into the Industrial Engineering graduate program every year.

4) Is OSU as tight as I think it is.

P.S.--- I plan on contacting the dept. direct; I just want to get you opinions.

I've read a few of your posts and have a few things to say. First off, you have a degree in applied mathmatics which honestly isn't the worst off when applying for your Masters in engineering, since you obviously have just as strong or even a stronger math level then those students coming from undergrad engineering programs. I would see how you do on the GRE

As far as graduate school admission, deadlines tend to be later because the fact that many schools worry about undergraduate admissions before hand.

What other schools are you looking at applying to? I would recommend some of the schools that maybe have Masters as the top degree offered (Kettering, Rose Hulman, Bradley, etc.).

Ohio State's program is competitive but I wouldn't count you out.
