Do continuing students who will be living in the suites get any assitance from the Move-In crew when moving in?

I think they are helping freshmen move in on Sept 1.

they give you the red bins, i moved in late last year but they still had those bins. i think move in crew is more for freshman since those dorms are close together where the suites have parking far away for thomas and judson, so it may take time to get everyone

I just recieved my CA schedule and am assigned to move in crew. Move in crew starts thursday Aug 30 ends sat sept 1st i believe.

My son is also assigned to move in crew. His orientation is Aug 31 and he helps with move in on Sept 1.

That’s terrible. The move in crew only helps Freshmen? I’m supposed to carry my load 4 floors all by myself?

I’m sure someone will be able to help you, if not the move-in crew.

i do think move in crew also helps sept 1st. Btw you get a red bin and you put your stuff in it and up elevator.

shipponz, returning students move in Sept 2-3.

The giant red bin is too big for the sarcastically small elevator lol. There is no way both the red bin and I can get on the elevator simultaneously.

they have special bins for the suites, they are smaller and fit the elevator.

Speaking of moving in, I was thinking about whether to make the long 13 hour drive from Metro Atlanta with my dad or booking a flight to LaGuardia and either getting my uncle in North Bergen, NJ to take me to the Rutgers campus or spending 148 dollars to get a town car to pick me up. The airport in Newark has the cheapest town car rates, but the price of the flight tickets are a lot more expensive. Has anyone had any personal experience with this?

you should choose the cheapest with the amount of stuff you are bringing on campus. For example, flying would be convenient but you might have to pay extra for luggage/bags. If you choose this, tell your uncle to take you to rutgers so he can help you move stuff into your room.

If you drive you might want to account gas+ hotel fee if you plan on not doing a straight drive.

Towncars will drive you there but there will be traffic on campus while moving in and can cause headaches for the driver especially if he has other people to pick up.

My freshman year it took me 30 mins to get my key because there was no parking, and then another 15 mins to wait for a bin to move stuff into my room. Btw this was when i moved into engineering dorms which move in a day before everyone else while means less students.

The main thing is go with the cheapest and wouldn’t recommend the towncar service

I think I would drive up with your dad. You can bring more stuff with you and you will be able to run to the store if you need anything else. Plus you get to talk to your dad before you go off to college! (I’m a mom)

I agree about the town car service: it is very busy and hectic during move in and it’s better if someone you know can drive you.

Thanks guys. I just talked to my dad and he also said that he’s still going to drive me up to Jersey because LaGuardia is pretty far from campus, but instead of trying to drive 13 hours straight, I’m going to leave August 30th and go on a two day drive instead, which I like a lot actually. Last time I went to NJ a month ago for my orientation, it was much more hectic and crazy because we had decided to leave on a Friday with the whole family and got caught in a ton of nonstop traffic on I-95 up in Maryland and Delaware due to the number of toll booths there, so this time, my dad’s taking the route between Virginia and Pennsylvania to save time.

Your Dad’s smart about avoiding 95. There may also be pockets of congestion on an inland route, and it gets confusing around Harrisburg (be prepared with a good map), but not the dreary nightmare of 95. Mostly, I just wanted to say it’s a much prettier route inland and you’ll arrive in better spirits. Farther in miles, but worth it. If I were driving to Atlanta today, I’d go inland for sure. Always have.

ps… this is road construction season. see if you can check ahead for major construction areas and see if you can find a way to by-pass.

I still can’t get over the fact that we move in the 2nd of sept! We don’t even get a weekend to settle in with our floor :(.

Scienceguy are you a transfer? They can move in Sept 1.

I am a transfer moving in on the 31st…how do I sign up for a move in crew?

I’m considered a continuing student.
