I got admitted to UCSB yesterday. Unfortunately, I received a D in AP Calculus in the fall semester this year but I still maintained well over a 3.0 weighted GPA. I'm going to inform the admissions office about the D, but im afraid that they will rescind my acceptance. Does anyone know how hard UCSB is on D's?

I am in the same position unfortunately. While I have maintained above a 3.0 weighted gpa so far in my senior year, I am in danger of getting a D this semester, and I already got a D in one class last semester. If I get two Ds (one in the first semester, one in the second semester, both in the same class, AP Calculus) what is the likelihood that UCSB will rescind their admission decision?

Contact the admission office as soon as possible. If you only have one D for both semesters, you’d be most likely fine. But if you have more than two D’s, then all I can say is good luck.

Btw, this is something completely random. Both of your user names are restaurants names. I just thought that was funny.

^ lol…

but yeah make sure you update your grades… and why oh why do people insist on taking hard classes senior year ? its senior year !!

Thanks Ryan

Just to clarify, do you mean it should be fine if I get no more than 2 D’s total? I will most definitely not get more than two D’s this year, so hopefully you are right.

And wow, what are the odds that we both have fast food chain names Panda? hahaha

And it also depends on individual case. I got a D in APUSH in fall semester last year. I contacted the admission office. They said I was fine, because I already fulfilled the UC’s American History Institution requirement with my SAT II USH score.

You should be fine. I know a few people who got D’s (no more than two) in their last year of high school that didn’t get rescinded.

Ok thats good to hear. I’ve fulfilled all of my a-g requirements for math too so I’m hoping I will be fine.

call the sb office of the registrar and they will tell u what to do.

because the UCs use course difficulty in making admission decisions, and taking those hard classes may make the difference between admit and deny.

so…that means an average 3.5 GPA in the last semester with 2 B’s and one C will be accepted :O? I dont really wanna work hard in the last semester since i got 3.97 the previous semester :(
