Hey guys, I will be attending RPI this fall. I sent in my orientation card and got stuck with the 3rd orientation session (even though it was only my second choise, 1st was the first orientation). I am planning on majoring in electrical engineering. I want to take intro to engineering analysis, intro to engineering electronics, chemistry principles for engineers, and calculus 1. My question is if these classes will still be available by the third orientation. If they are intro courses, I would imagine they would have much room.

Also, what are the human and social electives? I want to minor in business. Would that suffice for the electives? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Emilio- RPI allots the class seats among all the SO sessions so that they all get a fair shot at the class sections they want. I would recommend that you do your homework before hand so that you have the weekly schedule figured out with a few options in case a particular recitation or lab section is full.

I really doubt you will have a problem getting into Calc 1
there are SO many iea classes, its tough to get locked out of that...chem principles is also like that
But definitely set up 2 or 3 schedule configs beforehand so you can go in with options in case classes get full.
Also, if you are for some reason locked out of classes, its actually not difficult to meet with the professor teaching it and get him to sign you up for the class manually.

Oh, and here's a treat for ya: this is what us RPI students use to plan our schedules. Download the app and make configs on here, you can have a schedule ready before you even shbow up to orientation!!
