@Dakotawarren9 What major?
Though your SAT is very good, being out of the top 25% puts you at a disadvantage for full admissions. Is there an extenuating circumstance to why your rank is out of the top 25%? You could write about that in one of the essays. As it stands with the stats given, you are a review applicant to the university. 35% of the review applicants who applied last year were given an admissions decision.
Though your rank is low and a school that values rank, they also value high test scores. The only sure fire way to escape Blinn Team (a collaborative admission program between Texas A&M University and Blinn College. Students are co-enrolled at both institutions), Aggie Gateway (a summer provisional admission program that gives students a unique chance to gain full admission to the university the following fall semester) or PAS (Program for System Admission offers students who are denied freshman admission the opportunity to enroll in a Texas A&M system school for one year with the intention of achieving guaranteed transfer admission to Texas A&M College Station upon successful completion of the program) is to become an academic admit, which means you need to improve your SAT score by 10 points as long as you make a 620 math and 660 ERBW and you need to move up to the top 25%, roughly 35 spots, which means, you need to start kicking butt in your classes and hope that you can move that many spots.
If that isn’t possible, and you were offered Blinn Team or gateway, that is not the end of the world. I know several young men in class 2020 in Blinn Team now, and all are in a fraternity and having a great experience.
There are guaranteed admissions to TAMU majors through admissions agreements with Blinn. This is for 2015 and 2016 but it gives you some idea of how it works. http://blinnteam.tamu.edu/AdmissionAgreements.aspx
I know all about Blinn and Gateway, while they aren’t my first choices I’d be willing to take part. Judging by my test scores and extra curricular activities, do you think there’s a chance I’d be completely denied? I’m almost positive I can move my rank up and I’m taking my tests again, so those have the opportunity to improve too
