none of us here can tell you what you can do, that's up to you.
it really depends on what you want to do. have a purpose and a goal and go from there. talk with your parents, your guidance counselor, pastor, etc... start working with your congressmen, that's the biggest thing--nomination.
don't let anyone but you decide for you, because ultimately it's your life, and you have to do what is best for you. if you want to go to an academy then go for it, if you don't, then do what you want. it's your choice, no one can make it for you. push though and you'll figure it out.

your credentials sound good
I think many current cadets had about the same

read up on the academies and other colleges and find what most interests you

as said, knock on your congressmans door and introduce yourself

I think getting into any service academy is a daunting task and even a bit of a crap shoot for anyone. Even with great background, I truly believe that LUCK is also involved (as in who else applies, what state you are in, limited eenrollment, etc)

And so, I would definitely also apply to other colleges that offer coursework that interests you as a backup. Dont put all your eggs in one basket.

My best advice is start early. You should have your application completed by end of August, including your essay. You can find books in your local library regarding applying to the Academies - check them out.

As to regular colleges - you are also in a better position the earlier you start. Sounds like this is your Senior year coming up. If you are taking challenging classes then college applications will really be a drain on your already full schedule so get them done NOW.

You are getting some good sound advice here, everyone is right on target.

A couple of things I would add is start getting letters of recommendation and get yourself a calendar. Make yourself deadlines, make a check list and write it down on a calendar. Being organized is a big part of the process.

You will need to figure out what you want to do after you graduate from an academy. Sounds like you want to fly, so you may eliminate one or two academies right there. Visit the ones that are left. Build a timetable calendar that details every task and completion date - the applications for MOC nominations are not trivial exercises and are usually due between Sept and Nov depending the MOC; each requires an application, sometimes several essays, submission of recommendations, grades and scores and possibly interviews. Your application to any academy also has several parts - the application w essay(s), submission of grades and scores, recommendation letters, medical testing by DOD, fitness assessment and a MOC nomination. All of this information must be received by each academy's deadline before they will even look at you. Then you wait, and wait and wait for a letter.

WHY do you want to go to a service academy? (Rhetorical question, think about it honestly. Develop your answer. )

INVOLVE the academy(ies) reps early in the process.NOW. Don't hesitate to ask their advice! Follow it! WOW them with your passion and dedication, and answer to the #1 question asked). If you are in a completive district, do some mock interview w/school staffers to prepare for congressional interview.

GET STUFF IN EARLY! (It's not just talk. Some academies give points for applications completed early -- the same essay in 25 days earns a lot more credit than the same thing 100 days later... even if it's withing the published deadline).
