Will I lose much marks for this typo in my essay ?

Hi all,

I am currently an undergraduate student in the UK. I handed in an essay last week. The other day I noticed that I made a mistake when reading it.

I have included the sentance below. In the sentance I should have put 'USER' after service. I left the word user out by mistate. I have put in stars where 'user' should have been. Anyone know will I lose much marks for this type of error. I am a mature student and I am not that well versed in academia rules and regulations. The sentance is below. It should have read 'service user' but I just put service. Thanks.

Here is the sentance.

Whilst the service **** must have a role in influencing decisions it is the social worker’s standing and authority that negates the equality of power within the relationship (ibid).

Im not trying to be mean but i think u should really try to improve your spelling. Sentence is spelled with e not a.
Having bad spelling = your teacher has a bad impression of you. Just saying.

Sorry I meant sentence.

First of all, I guess here’s not the right place to post your thread. I assume this section is for “college application essays” (e.g. UCAS personal statements), not what you’re talking about.

To answer your question, I think it depends on your professor. I’ve heard that some profs concern very much about the grammar/spelling/typo stuff, while others don’t.
