Will I Meet GT Requirements?? Will I be Disqualified? Chances of that?

hey, I'm an ILR GT.

I 'might' be in a bit of a trouble.

I am a GT Transfer who was recently accepted.

Here were my grades for first semester:
A, B, A, A, A

Here are my grades for second semester:
B+
A-
B (40% chance it will be a B-)
B- (Economics - one of the required courses, will either be a B, B-, or C+)
A (Electrical Engineering 317 - VERY TOUGH CLASS, although has nothing to do with ILR)

will I make it? I think what might hurt me is the low grade in Economics, which is ILR's requirement. Also, a second class with the risk of becoming a B- is also dangerous.

I know I will lose GT status, even though I am already accepted if I get a B-, but will the committee finally let me in with those grades? What do you guys think? I know, I should call Ian and tell him, but as of now, I want to remain anonymous. I want an idea of what to expect when I do contact them, in case that something happens.

thanks a lot

Disqualified? Do you mean, will you have your acceptance revoked? No. Not for going from 4 As and a B to 2 As and 3 Bs. Don't worry about it. If you're not convinced, though, and this is going to pester you, you might as well call the guy.

i mean, there is a possibility that my economics grade will be a B- or even a C+. i nearly failed the last midterm, but only got away cause of a curve.

last term, i look a tough physics class too. I was thinking C-/B+ at most but ended up with at least the B. I told Ian about this and he didn't make too big of a deal. He just told me to focus/remain calm. I also spoke to my physics teaacher since I wasn't doing so great. Tell your economics professor about the situation and focus on your finals. GOOD LUCK, I WISH YO THE BEST.

my economics teacher prolly wont do much cause our entire semester is determined by 3 exams. We dont have homework or quizzes or projects. She never gives out extra credit either. Nor do we have participitation grades.

I'd DEFINITELY talk to your teacher. Tell her wats on the line. I'm not sure if you would disqualify or not...I guess that would be a case by case thing. Do whatever you can to get a B or above. If that doesn't work talk to Ian.

GL!!!

are there any admission officers on this forum or anyone with knowledge about these kinds of GT situations who can give me some insight?

things like this are usually a case-by-case example.

i'd work hard and see what the final grade is in the end and talk to admissions in ILR for guidance.

they may just ignore it or they may decide to simply not grant credit for the class.

though, I'd be lying if I said people were denied the use of a GT because of one class that didn't meet the minimum grade requirement.

gomestar thanks for the insight. im still not quite sure what to say to them when I call them.

can i simply suggest that they not grant credit for the class and I'll take it over at cornell?

I have a similar situation. I just got accepted as a one year transpher to cals. I've been fine on all my classes except for Gen Bio II. I got a C in the class. I'm hoping that I can convince them of something because I took another biology class (Tropical Ecology) which is the same level and is a lab class. Does anyone think that this will work? I talked to my bio teacher and he won't help me :-(

i think im about to get cancer from all this worrying....arrgh

L ooks like life isn't so good :P ...
I suggest 3 things:

1)Study your ass off for econ.
2)Speak with your professor...tell her whats on the line....she's human
3)Speak with Ian if all else fails

GL!

I really don't get these threads. No one replying to these threads is part of the admissions committee. Just call Cornell.
