i am currently a student at southern new Hampshire university. I have 9 credits completed with a 3.89 GPA. by the end of this month I will have 15 credits on my transcript and will hopefully have a GPA within 3.75-3.85. I have also completed 43 credits at a community college with an adjusted 1.7 GPA.
I am applying to UMASS boston as a transfer student. I saw on the website I need a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. However, I talked to the associate director of admissions, and he told me that as long as I have a 2.5 GPA or better from SNHU and at least 12 credits completed , that they could admit me just based on my SNHU grades, and they would over look the community college GPA. But, I could not find this rule on any of the wesbites for the college. and when I talked to the transfer counselors, they told me this may be true, but that they would still look at my community college grades.
They also told me that because my GPA has substancially improved from the first college they might be able to admit me just from seeing the improvement.
Should I take the word of the assistant director, or the transfer counselors? And does this policy about having 12 or more credits completed at a second school sound realistic?
