Basically, I was caught smoking during one of my periods the other day during school at a house roughly a block from our school. Anyways, I'm on a 5 day suspension right now but I could possibly be expelled. My parents are debating, after talking to an attorney, about pulling me out of school so that I can at least graduate.

I was accepted to the University of Washington and I committed but how is this going to adversely affect my acceptance? I heard that if I'm expelled my acceptance will be revoked but what about the suspension alone? Also, if my parents pull me out of school to either home school me or send me to a private school for the remainder of the year (18 days), how will that affect my acceptance?

I know a screwed up big time so please, don't tell me that I screwed up. I already know that. :(

"You must contact your intended university ASAP."

Not really. It's your decision whether you want to tell them or not. If I were in that position, I'd do my absolute best to keep it quiet. It's not like the college keeps tabs on you everywhere you go.

how silly can a person get, why not just wait a couple of weeks?

it shows you have little self control and are frankly foolish

expulsion is pretty sever, so I am guessing this wasn't your first offence, otherwise, the school would probably have suspended you, not let you walk, go to prom, etc

why would you be expelled for smoking OFF campus
this makes no sense
even if it was weed...my friend got suspended for 5 days coz they found weed on him IN school

I agree with y7, what the hell did your school just pull? You were off school grounds, and WHO caught you smoking? I don't understand unless it was like his parents or something when you went back to school and they said they saw you smoking I'd just be like prove it. They can't expell you on hearsay and I definetly no they cant expell you for having herb in your ****, so somethings definetly up here. Either your not telling the full story or your a troll.

For those who say it's not the college's business: the high school must submit a final grade transcript. That's why some kids are worried about their acceptance being revoked for a D. Do you really think that the college won't see that the student was expelled? Do you think they won't care? It's much better to be proactive than have the college come asking for answers.

I agree that there must be more to the story.

It was marijuana. Sorry for not clarifying. It was at my friend's grandma's house. He had previously told us that it was fine to go back there if we ever needed to but one of the neighbors saw us go into the backyard and called the police.

Basically, since it was only a block from school and it was while I had a class, the school ruled it as smoking "on campus".

Edit: As of right now I'll still be receiving my high school diploma but it may not be from the same school. Currently, my parents and I are trying to appeal to the Superintendent to allow me to receive my diploma from my original school.

OO this gets better and better - you were off campus during class time - that's 1 -AND you were smoking - that's 2 - AND it was drugs - that's 3!!!!

3 Strikes and you are OUT!! You deserved to be suspended!!

Yes - your college will need to be notified about this suspension - not too many ways around it - cuz they will be finding out anyways - by you or by the high school.
