Will my AP scores help my chances?

I recently received my automatic acceptance, however I am hoping to be accepted into the school of engineering. I am in the top 4% of my class, have strong SAT and ACT scores, and a rigorous courseload, however my AP scores are lacking. I received a 4 on psychology, English Composition, U.S. History, and World History, I know these scores aren't very impressive and therefore have not sent them yet. My question is should I send them anyway? Would they help my chances? Hurt them?

I don’t think admission acceptance is based on AP scores alone, but it counts GPA, rank, LOR, ACT/SAT scores, etc.
AP exams are for college credit only.

4’s and 5’s are all considered good scores on AP exams - so if your lowest score is a 4, I would still send them. Your exams are not in math or science courses, so I don’t think engineering is going to care that much. But I don’t think those scores are going to hurt you at all and might help.

If you have scores you know will yield credit-by-exam at UT, there’s no reason not to send them in. If you think (as most AP students do) the ability to earn college-level credit makes you a more attractive applicant, Admissions must have the scores in order to know. It’s AP scores, not AP courses on your high school transcript, that produces the credit.

“I received a 4 on psychology, English Composition, U.S. History, and World History”

This should get you out of atleast 9 hours. The engineering school is not going to care that you didn’t get 5s on the 3 hour exams, they want to see you made good grades in those classes over the entire year and that you can claim credit.

I don’t recall having to send AP scores until the end of the year, but you should send them eventually.
