I had sent in an ED2 application to Oberlin. However, even though I did submit the CommonApp by the deadline, I could not submit my SAT scores, teacher recommendations and Certification of Finances until much later due to health problems. The last teacher recommendation went out today, and the rest went about a week back. People who apply ED2 to Oberlin generally receive their acceptance/rejection letters from the college by 1st February. Did I send in my materials too late? Oberlin is my dream college, and I would hate to think that I could not attend just because my application was considered incomplete. Will they check my application if I send them an email explaining the circumstances? Is there anything else I can do? Please help!
Did they ever send you an email or letter saying things in your file were still missing? It seems like that’s the “drop dead” last chance deadline when they send out those notices.
you could ask here, people that don’t work at Oberlin. Or you could ask your GC to check with Oberlin, that same GC who you should have had working with Oberlin to make sure they understood your material would be delayed.
As others have suggested, you should contact your admissions counselor directly. If you got the materials in by the RD deadline, they will definitely consider your application and they may accommodate extenuating circumstances as well. Best of luck!
I had a similar situation happen with Tufts where the supplemental materials were not submitted in time for ED 2, so they simply deferred me to the regular round. You should certainly ask Oberlin and explain to them your circumstances
