This year, my AP classes included european history, american government, language, and literature. I already paid for all of the exams, because at the time I had no idea where I'd be going to college.

Now that I know where I'm going (UC Berkeley), I feel pretty silly about spending $160 on the euro/gov tests, as I apparently can't get any credit for either.

I can only use 2 AP tests to get social sciences credit (I already can get credit from my world and US history tests) making it pointless to take the euro test. Additionally, the college doesn't accept credit for american government unless I also take comparative gov, which my school doesn't offer.

Should i really take these two exams? I feel my time would be much better spent during these last two weeks cramming for lang/lit, and it seems silly to spend about 8 hours taking a pair of tests that I can't get any credit for.

What happens if I simply don't show up, and how will the college regard it? I've heard people say that not taking an exam can cause a college to rescind admission, but would they really do that if I can't get credit for the exams no matter how I score?

when my D and her classmates were sitting for the APStat test, (they had to take the test - it was a HS rule) anyway, they all knew they were not going to get any college credit and the teacher had a 75% failure rate on the test, so the kids showed up, took the test, but they did pretty patterns with the answer key, etc....so the cycle continued, few passed it...

worse case, you show up and fill in the answers willynilly and go home

I'd advise you just to suck it up and take the test to the best of your ability. You never know what's going to happen. Maybe you go to Berkeley and hate it, and decide to transfer.

Why would they rescind your admissions...? AP tests are not mandatory just because you took the class. Many of my friends are only taking one or two AP tests even though they are in 5 AP classes.

No, they are not going to rescind your admission - it just means you take more classes and spend more semesters there. (If they give credit for that exam).

Yes, you should take the exam. Like someone else said, you could transfer and really need those credits - happened to me 20+ years ago.

My bloody school made us fill out the bubbles of name, address, ect... for the AP tests that we had said we would take. I no longer wish to take one. Can i still get a refund? despite having filled out my name and whatnot?
