Will my senior year be manageable?

Hey, I'm a rising senior and I'd like to know if you think this schedule will be manageable or not.

Also, I think it's important to include that I'm involved in the following ECs: Student Council {President}, NHS {Secretary}, MUN, Foreign Language Honor Society, Class of 2013 {Vice President}, Key Club, and varsity softball (spring), basketball (winter 2), field hockey (fall), and volleyball (winter 1).

My senior year schedule:

AP Calculus AB
AP Chemistry
AP Government & Politics
AP Italian Language & Culture
AP Micro/Macro Economics
Anatomy & Physiology (no honors offered)
AP English Literature
AP Psychology

7 APs.....IDK if its a good idea LOL. I might change AP Econ(s) to AP Euro instead and change AP Italian to Italian V Honors... would that be better? I know Psych is supposed to be fairly easy, Calc AB is easier than BC, Chem is supposed to be brutal though, Gov is supposed to be in the middle, and English isn't my strong suit (more of a math/science person. but good at history as well) but theres no English IV Honors.

If it helps, I have a 4.0 UW GPA (Weighted: 5.04 on a 6.0 system, I've also taken/will take almost all of the APs my school offers) and have taken the following classes: (NOTE: All types of A's count as 4/5/6, all types of B's as 3/4/5, etc.)

Freshman Year

AP Human Geography (5, A+ & A+)
Italian II Honors (A+ & A+)
Geometry Honors (A & A+)
Biology Honors (A+ & A+)
P.E. (A & A)
Global History I Honors (A+ & A+)
English I Honors (A & A+)
Choir (A & A)
Lunch (F & F LOL JK. No grades for lunch..)

Sophomore Year

AP World History (5, A & A)
P.E. (A & A)
Health (A+ & A+), Child Psychology & Development (A+ & A+)
Italian III Honors (A & A+)
Career & Financial Management (A+ & A+), Business Communications (A+ & A+)
English II Honors (A & A+)
Algebra II/ Trigonometry Honors (A & A)
Chemistry Honors (A & A)
Choir (A & A)

Junior Year

AP United States History (4, A & A)
AP Statistics (5, A & A+)
Pre-Calculus Honors (A & A)
Italian IV Honors (A & A)
AP Biology (5, A & A)
Physics Honors (A- & A)
AP English Language (4, A- & A)
AP Environmental Science (5, A & A)

Thanks : )

Oh, and my dream schools are all the Ivies, Stanford, MIT, etc. I also like USC, UCLA, Northeastern, Boston U, College of William & Mary…

I mean, that’s insane! Seven APs! But if you think you can handle it, then go for it. It’s very impressive. What you should not do is take all of those AP classes and not do as well in them. It might be more manageable to take one of them out like you suggested, but like I said, if you think you can handle it…you are the only person who knows how much you can take on. So go for it! I could never do that much without getting an ulcer…

How do you only have a 5.04 Weighted? Your schedules are about a billion times more difficult than mine have been, and I have about a 5.56 out of 6 weighted. o_o
But yeah, 7 APs is a bit insane. Given your previous grades though, I wouldn’t doubt that you could do it. Make sure to brush up on your chem though.

Some courses in my school are only offered as standard/college prep classes, and therefore an A only counts as a 4 and it brings my weighted GPA down : /. I’ve taken 6 CP classes.

No, just no.

I’ve tried fixing it, and here is my revised schedule. The only dilemma I’m facing is that I want to take four years of the major core subjects, along with 4 years of foreign language. In my earlier years of high school, I doubled up in a few subjects so that I’d have met all the pre-requisites to take the AP courses, not realizing that I’d be forced to take 4 or more APs in my senior year (for some reason my school 90% of the time refuses to offer honors courses when there is an AP class for the subject, for example: there is Honors Global History I, but no Honors Global History II, instead you go to AP World history…), which could definitely be overkill, especially since I try my best to be extra involved in ECs and community service so that I seem like a more well-rounded applicant (and I’ve also come to love many of the ECs that I’m involved in, especially the sports and the animal shelter that I volunteer at.)

Italian V Honors (one of the few exceptions to the AP in place of honors thing)
AP English Literature
AP Government & Politics
AP Calculus (Should I do AB or BC?)
AP Psychology (I mean, it’s probably going to be an easy 5. Or…I could just drop the class entirely and self-study Psych, then take the AP exam in May. Only I’m afraid that I won’t have any time to self-study due to my other APs and ECs. Plus, I need classes to fill in slots in my schedule. I don’t want my senior schedule to look like I’ve come down with a case of senioritis and am slacking off.)
AP Chemistry or Physics B (Which would you say has a lighter course load/ the easier AP??)
Anatomy & Physiology (no honors offered)
Economics/Sociology (no honors offered)

I honestly don’t like the idea of taking 3 non-honors/AP classes because it will bring down my weighted GPA. It might affect my ranking, since they determine ranking after first semester of senior year and these standard classes won’t be weighted. I’m currently in a tie with another student for 2nd, and if I take all 7 AP classes (and get As in them for at least 1st semester), I’ll be valedictorian. I’m only in 2nd because I took an additional year of Choir (non-weighted), and took 2 business classes (1 semester each, to fill an empty period) that are non-weighted, while the current #1 took a free period which doesn’t factor into GPA… Do colleges really care what my ranking is, as long as I’m in the top 3? (Which I definitely will be, at the least I’ll be #3.)

SarahLlama, i would think that having AP Lit, AP Calc, and AP CHEM AS WELL AS AP PHYSICS is a lot of work just right there. In my opinion, two AP sciences make it hard for you to concentrate on the other AP classes you are taking.

Any admissions officer will tell you that 4 APs should be maximum you should take, because according to your track record, you are also making plenty of other commitments to playing sports, and participating in other school events and having leadership positions in them as well. So, I would not cross 4 APs as plenty of admissions officers, including those from Cornell, Georgetown, you name it, have expressed that 5 Aps or more will drive you insane.

Otherwise, you have a superb record! Good luck in you future endeavors

Thank you RG3HTTR, but what I meant was that I would either take AP Chemistry, or I’d take AP Physics. If I took both I know I’d certainly go insane, haha. Well…I’d say that I’m already fairly insane…
