Will non competitive Canadian high schools hinder my application?

I go to a very good public school in Canada yet it is very noncompetitive. They don't give rankings for grades, they do not encourage coaches to pick a team captain and they prohibit you from taking APs until grade 11. Will this affect my application, or are all canadian highschools like this so Ivies will know that they should expect less?

For example one of my EC is basketball, im easily the second best player in the grade(and maybe the best in the school in my senior year) and a leader off and on the court, however as i mentioned above our coaches are discouraged from picking captains, so won't this greatly diminish the value of this EC all i can write is: school bball team(9-12) starting 2 guard instead of bball team(9-12) captain. I spend hours everyday practicing my skills yet in the end there won't be anything to prove it.

Also our school does not rank students so US colleges will have no idea where i am at, how would this affect my overall application?

thanks in advance!

Many high schools in the US do not do class rank either. It is slowly dying out among most schools.

All universities will understand the academic situation at your high school. They will know you aren’t allowed to take APs until grade 11. They’ll know if you took the most challenging schedule possible and other stuff like that. They won’t expect you to have taken AP and whatnot if you simply were not allowed to at your school.

If you play competitively, there must be championship wins for instance? Perhaps have your coach write the 3rd optional recommendation if possible.

There are only a few feeder schools in Canada. So for the rest of schools, you are looking at the same chance as other non-feeder schools anyway. So focus on yourself and see how you can differentiate yourself from other students.
