Will not sending BIG envelopes lower my chances??

Haha pettiest question ever, but i gave my counselors and teachers the small envelopes for all 50 of my apps (jk, no i DON'T have 50 apps, but you get my point). should i run back and buy them the big yellow kind?

will i get rejected just for using small envelopes? gosh i hate all these technicalities of the college admissions process!

Did it say anywhere on the application or school website to use manila envelopes? If not you should be fine. Even if it does, I doubt it'll make any significant difference.

ummm..... i really don't think it matters, the size of the envelope shouldn't have any effect on your chances of being admitted.

Both my kids used regular business size envelopes, not big ones. All went well. Not to worry. I think Stanford (so I've read on CC) wants big ones, so unless one of your colleges specifies that, don't worry about it for a second.

Not the MOST petty question but way up there, HM! LOL

4 1/2 stars for this post on the "CC Paranoia" scale!

it doesnt matter
they are going to open the envelopes and put the forms in a file they make for you. so it wont matter

Make an envelope where you'd have to solve a riddle in order to open it. They will definitely be impressed! (if they can open it)

I heard Stanford doesnt accept folded teacher recs....which means u really cant send the recs in a small envelope...but dat might b a rumor.

The size of the envelope will not matter, but don't let them know your CC screenname is hannahmontana! :)

jacobe91, I have heard that about Stanford, too. I've only heard it here on CC though. Out of curiosity I just looked at Stanford's website, and while it does have a .pdf downloadable mailing label to use for teacher recs, it doesn't say anything about the size of the envelope or not sending folded letters or anything like that. It would be weird, I think, to specifically require large envelopes and unfolded letters, but anyone applying to Stanford should check that out themselves, I guess.

It would be funny if Stanford gets a huge percentage of its teacher recs in large envelopes because of a kind of college admissions urban legend! Maybe some former Stanford applicants should weigh in here.... especially successful ones. ;)
