Applying to Michigan Early action postmarked deadline is Nov. 1st. They accept October scores as long as postmarked for Nov. 1st.

Retaking SAT Oct. 9th. Already requested scores be sent to Michigan (electronically). Collegeboard says scores start being sent to colleges Oct. 28th.

So, will my scores be postmarked before Nov. 1st?

Also, I'd like to take the October 23rd ACT, but I don't think there is anyway scores can be postmarked by Nov.1st.

So... is there a way somehow?

As you will see it states the belief that it is “unlikely” the Oct scores will be received in time to be considered timely for early action. I question that for SAT because of how the CB works when it has electronic delivery. It will release scores Oct 28. What that usually means is that it will actually put your scores into the electronic account that Mich has with CB that day or even a day or two before that day technically they are then “sent” because all Mich has to do is download them which it can do whenever it feels like doing it. The ACT score will not make the Nov 1 deadline.

HOWEVER: you have an SAT score. If you apply by the deadline and have that one sent before Nov 1, you will definitely meet the early action deadline and you will be guaranteed a response by Dec 23. Mich will start rolling out decisons beginning in Nov. If, after sending app and prior SAT score, your Oct scores actually get there before your file is reviewed to determine admission, they will be considered and you will still get a decision by Dec 23. The issue is simply when will your file be reviewed and that cannot be predicted.

Finally, understand what Mich’s early action program actually means. All it means is that it will tell you whether you are admitted, denied, or deferred to later decision by Dec 23. It does not mean that your application will be considered before those who apply after Nov 1 and it will still be following a rolling admissions process for all applications; in other words someone who applies after Nov 1 could actually receive his decision before you even get one. The only difference is that those who apply after Nov 1 don’t have to be told anything by Dec 23 and they could end up waiting till later.
