Will one C senior year hurt my chances?

Hi. I have been very worried recently because I am most likely going to get a C or C+ in AP English IV Literature. All of my other classes (3 of which are AP) are all either A's or B+'s and throughout every other year of school, I have constantly maintained A's A-'s and B+'s except this year I really just cannot do well in my english class. Will this 1 C make a difference at all in my chances at getting into college? Will the colleges I am applying to early action be able to see this? Will they care?

Thanks for your help.

please help

They will see this when your counselor sends your midyear report in January. Colleges can take back their offer, did you know that?

The C will matter if you’re applying to Harvard.

Where are you applying? That’s what matters.

boston college, villanova, hopkins, psu university park, rutgers, lehigh, uva, unc chapel hill, university of maryland college park

BC is my number 1 choice and my dad went there too if that helps me at all.

Wow…you’re applying to a lot of OOS publics. Will your parents pay for those? Have your parents said how much they’ll pay each year?

What are the rest of your stats?

A “C” might not hurt you for Villa, PSU, Rutgers, and UMCP. Don’t know about the others.

yeah they are able and willing to pay anything. my sats are 740 math, 660 cr, and 650 writing (these may change tomorrow when SAT scores come out again), sat 2 math 2 780, us history 660.

gpa unweighted: 3.65
gpa weighted 4.24 out of 5
my school doesn’t rank students.

I’m involved in
green team (environmental club) 10,11,12,
student council 10, 11, 12
jv tennis 10, 11
varsity tennis (hopefully) 12
jv basketball 9
and i work in the summer as a camp counselor

I’m applying to BC, UNC, and Villanova early action, before my grades are out.

'm applying to BC, UNC, and Villanova early action, before my grades are out.

Well, try to get your grade up because schools do rescind acceptances once they see later grades (which they will).

it doesn’t matter, they’ll see it when your counselor sends the midyear report. they can take back their acceptance if they don’t like what they see.

These posters are essentially right, but it’s not likely. If it’s really your first C and you have stellar grades in all the rest of your rigorous classes, then you’re not at much of a loss. They’ll just look closer at your other stats.

Hi! I have had all A’s and 2 A-'s each year of my HS school career taking like 5 APs each year and one in sophomore year, 0 freshman. This year in math (Multivariable Calc and Linear Algebra), the top schools will see a C on my midyear report. I have As in all the other rigorous classes Im taking this year and its my first time getting a C. Do you think this will affect my chances?
