I’m currently a student at a California Community College.
I have a 3.97 GPA as of last quarter and I’m taking two summer classes right now. I’m taking a precalculus course and a Business Calculus course. The Business Calculus course is only needed for UCSC but I can replace it with the regular Calculus series which is why I’m taking the precalculus course simultaneously. I’ve decided to drop the Business Calc course because in the long run I don’t need it and I want to focus on understanding the precalculus course since I didn’t do so well in Highschool precalculus. This will be my first and only W. How will UCBerk and UCLA view this? Can I explain my change of course in the essay? I also think it would benefit my GPA since it’s been overwhelming juggling 2 math classes. It’s a lot more than I can handle, and since it’s a summer course both of the classes are trying to squeeze as much work into the 6 weeks as possible. Would a W or a C be more attractive to admissions?
no 1 W won’t do you any harm. As long as you have less than 3 you’re fine.
