Will people take me seriously with pink hair?

So, I had wanted to dye my hair pink since sophomore year of high school, and my deal with my mother was that once I chose the college I wanted to go to, got accepted, and reserved my spot, I could dye it pink. I now have pink hair, and in a month, I’ll be leaving to major in biology at a small school in SC. I already know that my school is okay with it, so that won’t be a problem. I am concerned, however, about being taken seriously. Will it be a huge problem there? I feel boring with my natural color. I will dye it back before going to medical school. Am I overthinking this?

I think you’re overthinking it. Most people will not have a problem with the color of your hair.

In college, any color is OK. Yes, you are overthinking!

You’re overthinking  College population is very diverse, unique, and different.

It might not be the best choice for a job interview or career fair, but otherwise there shouldn’t be a problem.

Have you visited the school ? Did you see anyone else with hair in a color not typical of natural hair color? If you want to
PM me and tell me which school ,I can probably give you a more accurate answer. I live in SC.

I’ve been to orientation and everything, and I was the only one there with an unnatural hair color.

Other people’s opinions don’t matter (unless its for a job interview)

I’m sure you’re not the only one at your whole college with unnatural hair color. Either way, majority of college students don’t care about people’s hair, or their appearance. They’re just trying to do the same thing you’re doing.

hi, I think that at your college years you can do any similar crasy things… this will help you to understand a lot of thing in life, to get some experience. and besides, I believe that pink colour hair is cool

You’ll be fine… though you might want to die it back before interviewing for professional internships or jobs. Other than that, no one cares. And, IMO, college is a GREAT time to experiment with your hair.

Pink hair is cute though… Adds a little flair to personality. I personally wouldn’t judge on the job interview over those picky details, but who knows.

I believe that someone will tell you that the 90’s called and wants their pink hair back.

Ack, excuse the typo in post 10. Dye, not die.

Pink hair is not out, brownparent. If anything, it’s making a resurgence since bright red hair is in.

Go for it! Now all you have to do is make your life live up to your exciting hair

I don’t really think that pink hair makes anyone more interesting. It’s just hair color and you really don’t have any control over other people’s reactions to it. It’s possible that one person will think it’s cool and quirky and the next will think it’s way too try-hard. I doubt most people will care one way or the other and will judge you on your personality.
