to be a cadet in rotc or west point, you need a secret clearance. most soldiers only need a secret.

I don't know about the clearance requirements for West Point cadets, but why would an rotc cadet need a clearance. They are college students, most with no obligation to the military. Most soldiers do not need a clearance. It depends on your job or assignment, respectively.

you must have a security clearance to carry a weapons

I carried weapons long before I had a clearance. Non US-citizens can't have clearances, but carry weapons.

if you lose you clearance, you get kicked out of the army.

Not true. However, you may lose your job and have to train for another one (usually MI types.)

top secret goes through medical records and takes a long time to get.

I don't know about going through medical records, but do conduct interview with people you list as references (and people you might not have listed.) My clearance took almost 1.5 years to get, but I was a pretty shady character.

rotc cadets fill out an sf86 before contracting.
our x.o. explained to me how if he beats his wife, he looses his clearance. its some act. and if you loose the clearance you do get kicked out. basically all soldiers have secret or above. i have secret.
as for carrying a weapon, i think that means in combat. just what my platoon sergeant told me. top secret can go through med records. secret will not.

all soldiers dont have secret clearances, but I think all officers do require a secret clearance
