I go to Moorpark. We never have winter sessions. We have an 18 week Fall and an 18 week Spring. Then we have 1 session in the summer. Although there are some classes that start in May and some that start in June, the may classes will cut into the June classes so you can’t take as many classes. Same goes for Ventura and Oxnard afaik.

so, where can we find the result of the decision?

I have a friend who gets this kind of information. I’ll message her later today to find out.

In any event, the vote will be held today (8/19).

any news yet?

I haven’t heard anything at all. As soon as someone gets some news, I’m sure they’ll post about it here.

My scholars councelor at SMC said it’s still in discussion. It seems likely there will be a winter session but classes will be limited to 1 max per student, sophomores get first priority, full time SMC students also get priority.

Any news on valley college?

I’m sure someone will post news here as soon as it is available.

any news yet?

No, nothing available online yet. How about calling Valley College and asking the Admissions Office about the Winter session?

SMC has the dates of the session up on the site, so I take that as a good sign? I hope? I’m really depending on that session and was very upset when PCC (my main campus) cancelled their’s.

With educational budgets throughout the state still being hashed out, I would remain flexible, be prepared, and explore all your options.

Don’t quote me, upper, but I heard today that winter session at LAVC is cancelled.

that would suck, i would have to take extra classes if i want to graduate on time then.

Upper, I believe other community colleges in the L.A area may still be offering winter sessions.

I’ll have to speak with my counselor then

I talked to an SMC counselor today and he said there will “definitely be a winter session, but will likely be cut down like Fall.”

^ Yes, there will be winter session. Smaller classes though (obviously). Too many students. ): There were 125 people trying to add my math class. Horrible.

Yes, the less classes there are, the more students will attempt to add. I suppose the choices many community colleges have to make this winter is No Classes vs. Less Classes. I haven’t heard anything about LACCD’s situation, though. It appears that if a college is in the red, they will not be able to have a winter session. However, if the college is doing okay, they will be able to decide.
