Will they LAUGH at my application?? Do I have a chance at Vandy and GTown?

ACT: 31 (will retake)
GPA: 3.89 UW</p>

<p>Toughest courseload possible offered at school (GC can attest to that)</p>

<p>Jr. Year - AP Lang (3) and Gov (4)
Sr. Year - AP Comparative Gov (self-studying), Lit, Macro, Micro, Calc AB (7 APs by the end of the year)
Plus honors math and science each year of HS</p>

<p>My ECs are pitiful, and are my weakest point. Can a guy w/ less-than stellar ECs make it? This is my real concern.</p>

<p>Key Club member (I am rather dedicated to this though) - 10, 11, 12
Team Captain of Quiz Bowl team - 11, 12 (elected twice)
NHS member - 11, 12</p>

<p>Awards - NM Commended Scholar, plus numerous tournament wins in Quiz Bowl</p>

<p>I know you’re in at Bama. I only got a 25 on my ACT and have a 3.62 GPA and got in.</p>

<p>The only one (that I know of) where your lack of ECs will hurt you is Vandy. They’re really big on extra-curricular involvement and volunteer work.</p>

<p>Might look at Holy Cross-nice campus near Boston.</p>

<p>They certainly won’t laugh at your application. Georgetown and Vanderbilt are reaches though.</p>

<p>Another question: will raising my ACT score to a 32 (I know I can) increase my chances? How much? (I’m obviously experiencing anxiety with this.)</p>

<p>decent-good shot at all but those ecs are definitely gonna hurt.
vandy and gtown are definite reaches though. a 32 will help a bit but wont be enough to counter act ecs. </p>
