Will they let me move in a Day early? It was the only day I could bookmy tickets for.

I do not have my housing assignment yet but I know that most of the time, the move-in does not occur until August 28. I tried to book tickets accordingly but even as of now, more than a month in advance, the closest I could get to 28 is to book for August 27. I'm flying from very far away and although I am not regarded by Georgetown as an international student, I only live in the US during school. Do you think they could let me in a day early? Ideally, I do not want to book a hotel because it is an additional hassle and most that I have checked out are quite expensive.

Hopefully if you explain the situation to housing, they could let you move in early since it is only by a day. I’d try calling housing and see if they’ll let you since it’s not too soon before you’d move in.

^I just called them and they said that unless I have an assignment in one of the halls that open on 27th, I will have to find a place to stay. This really sucks.

If that’s the case, I suggest you book a hotel now. There are some hotels that you can reserve but cancel sometimes up to the day of your stay. Of course, you have to pay a little more to make this kind of reservation, but at least you don’t have to pay in advance as you would with an unalterable reservation.

My family reserved a hotel room for $159 a night but we could cancel it until the night before. There was another option for the exact same hotel room where it would be an unalterable reservation, and we would have paid $139 a night.

Also, the great thing about a flexible reservation is that if you do discover that you have to stay a night for sure, you can still try to find a better deal and cancel your old reservation if you do.
