Will This Effect My Admissions?

I am currently going into Junior year. Honors English 11 is very difficult in comparison to the prior years. My grades are very good, but English is tough for me. I am looking to go to and Ivy League or Ivy-calibur school for college. If I was to take a normal English class and get all As instead of taking Honors and getting Cs and Bs, woud it effect me in getting into a top rank school? Also, not taking Honors English, I would take AP French or another AP class in place of Honors English because I would have much more time to study for other classes. Thanks for the help in advance.

What are you more interested in? Foreign languages or English? If you have the desire to go for AP French, then go for it and take regular English. On the other hand, I took a big risk to move up even though I wasn't really sacrificing anything else. I had a great time- learned a LOT from my teacher. I don't regret it at all. Think about why you're taking Honors English. If it's for the sole of admissions, don't bother. If it's to seek discussions with like-minded peers who actually take literature seriously, then it's for you- go for it.

I think getting C's would hurt you more than taking a non-honors class

I think you should get an A in AP and honors classes. sheesh, easy solution.

Umm It may be sad to say this, but the Ivy caliber schools are looking for the kids who can get the A in honors English AND get an A in AP French. Of course, a B or 2 won't really hurt, but you are going to have to make up for a C or a lot of Bs. This being said, I think the A in regular English while taking AP French might be best, unless you can pull a B in Honors English AND still take AP French.

The top top top schools want perfection, the rest of the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of school, will accept a less. So don't freak out.

Yeah a C in honors/AP is actually worse than an A in a regular class according to my guidance counselor. I can't say that I disagree.

In a somewhat related topic, the correct word is "affect" for your thread title. Perhaps your honors English isn't really that difficult...hmmm...

lol! ouch.
