Will this hinder my chances at an instate college?

I’m currently taking Ap chem right now and I am dying. I didn’t take Pre-Ap chem but general chem instead last year because I had no intention of taking this class but somehow ended up here. I don’t have an interest in the medical field whatsoever and at this rate with my teacher who can’t teach, I don’t think I’m going to pass the Ap chem test. I currently have a B in this class(my first) and that’s out of sheer luck. I am constantly behind and we have a test coming up and I think that is going to drop my grade. However, if I drop out, my rank will drop and I don’t know what to switch into… hopefully another AP course? However, if I stay in this class, not only will my gpa and rank drop but I’ll also deal with the fact that I dropped out of something, because I don’t like to quit. What what you do?

Talk to your guidance counselor now and see what the options are.

I don’t understand why getting one B (or even lower) would affect your ability to get into an instate school. Even if you are in a state with one of the higher rated flagships, there should be other instate options that those with lower gpas can get into. Most states have a range of schools.

I second what the above poster said. ^^
However, if you’re really struggling with the class, I recommend talking to your GC.
