will this hurt me?

although my application was sent in weeks before the deadline, i forgot to pay online and was forced to mail in a check. i called the admissions office last week and they said that they hadn't gotten through all the mail yet, and that my app is not complete and cant be read over until the payment is processed.

as an "average" applicant, do you think this delay may eventually hurt my chances of being accepted?

Probably not once they get it but you have to make sure they get it. I would for sure call every day and even would consider sending another check overnight if you have to. I would hate to see you not get considered because of this so just make sure. I don't know how much I can help but I am a ND student and on-campus so I can go over there if you need me to for some reason. Just let me know!

I echo the above poster...it certainly won't help you, but I'm sure they aren't going to outright throw your application out because of an genuine problem such as the one you describe. Being willing to show that you take an interest in seeing the problem resolved can't hurt you however - so definitely continue to check with them and see if they got the money.

Getting the money isn't the problem........it is matching the money to the application folder that you must check on. Your check could be cashed and they folder still not released for consideration.

Had a similar problem with EA. Got disconnected before I could pay. Sent it right away, but it took a few days to catch up with file. I'd check with the bank and see if its's cashed. Send cancelled check.
