Hi,

So I have a potential issue with my admission for fall '12: I’ve been provisionally admitted to Cal Poly Pomona as a transfer student (yay!): my GPA is fair (3.67), but I’m looking to drop a class which I need in order to transfer to a state college in California.

I’ll be looking to re-take said class this summer (June 11th-July 20th) to fulfill that requirement, however, what are the chances of CPP revoking my admission if I send them my transcript after this spring semester? Do you think I would be allowed to make an argument for myself in order to convince them? And if so, do you think having proof of having completed all the courses (excluding this one) and having 60+ units would be ample evidence to persuade them?

I’ll have the class completed without a doubt come July, I’m just wondering if they will allow this or if they are strict on this topic. I really, really want to attend CPP this coming fall.

Any help or opinions are appreciated!

I should also add that I’ve completed all of the ‘To do list’ and enrollment/orientation fees. My orientation is scheduled on July 30th and I’m a philosophy major.

Call admissions. You want an answer from them, not here. They are the only ones that can give you definitive piece of mind.

July 15: Deadline to submit your final official transcripts.

You might be able to get some leeway but that’s what it is. You must call and ask.

Is it a class in the “Golden Four”?

Oral Communication

English Composition

Critical Thinking

Quantitative Reasoning

Those are required for you to transfer by the end of Spring

I’ll be calling admissions later in the afternoon and see if they will allow me to do it.

@CEincali, no it’s not part of the golden four, which is good. It’s a bio class so it doesn’t have to do with my major either.

I’ll update tomorrow in case anybody else is in a similar situation.

Alright, good news!

I spoke with admissions yesterday and today and they said that I’m not in jeopardy of losing my admission to the school. They told me as long as I have: 60+ units, the “golden four” and in good standing with my last school by the end of this spring semester I should be good. My admission should change from “provisional” to “cleared” when I send my final transcript.

Just an update for anyone else in a similar situation this year or the upcoming years.

Just wanted to say thanks by the way for clearing that up. I’m in the exact situation as you. Nice to not be as stressed.

Hi guys! Same boat with you. I’ve completed my CSUGE requirements and have well over 60 semester units. I’m looking to drop my physics class which is part of my major and take it at Cal Poly. Admissions office said it won’t affect my admission!
