How is the Genetics Program and the Physics-Astronomy programs? Are most professors TA's who don't know how to speak English, how do you like the city of Madison, can you go to Chicago alot? How is the food and what dorm is the best to stay in for a peaceful but wonderful sight with beautiful rooms, basically a study and a partly a social dorm? Thank you

So as it turns out I am a physics major here. The intro sequence is awesome (247,8,9) and throws you right into "big boy" physics and lets you bond with a bunch of physics majors with awesome professors. I am nothing but pleased with my physics courses (labs, professors, TAs, course material, ect...). I've had mostly good experiences with TAs with the exception of intro chem and one math class. They knew the material but there was a language barrier. Other than that they've been all positive experiences. You'll always have a professor giving the lecture and TAs run discussions and labs. I am also a Madison resident and love the city. There's everything you could ever want to do here. There are busses for about 30 bucks round trip that will take you to Chicago leaving from the union at most hours of the day. It's a nice day trip. As far as your dorm situation I'd recommend the

recommend the? It's awesome you are a physics major :), very few around!

I'd recommend it for sure. In my intro sequence there were about 30 kids spread across physics, physics-astronomy and applied math, engineeing and phyics (AMEP) with a few majors. Add a few kids not from the for majors sequence and it's turning into a decent sized major.
