Hey everyone, I just completed my first semester at UW Madison and I decided to come and see how the ol' CC forums were doing. I haven't been on here for a while and I thought that I'd make myself useful and try to answer some questions about the university. So fire away!

major/dorm?

Biochemistry and Philosophy currently living in Chadbourne.

Liking chad?

Eh, it's ok. I make the most of it but the people can be rather annoying at times. I'm pretty lucky though as my wing is really cool. I'm definately moving into a place with some friends next year though. The rumors about Chad having no party life is an absolute lie. It is just as crazy if not more so than the other southeast dorms.

Chad has a fair mix of people. It was too cult-like for me, though.

I don't know about cult-like...but it definately is a haven for people to express themselves whether or not they should be allowed to. I did meet a lot of cool people though, and most people love it there. Anyway, guess there aren't too many people dying to ask questions at 11 pm on a Sunday night =D so I'm going to head off the computer. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Cult-like as in Chad residents rarely venture out of the dorm except to get food.

D E F I N I T E L Y. Please for the love of higher education.

relax, it is just a message board.

Huh barrons? What did you get worked up about?

roosh do you have to send mid year grade reports?

I'm not roosh but no, not unless they ask.

Wow I almost gave up on this little thread here. EPSIHPSI is right, you don't have to.

How is their biochem program looked upon by graduate schools? Is there a lot of opportunity to do research as an undergrad? Also, how is the quality of education/teaching in their bio/chem program?

The biochem is one of the bigger programs here. I know we have a very good and very big grad program, which I'm sure allows for a lot of opportunities for undergrads. I took two semesters of chem and thought it was fine. Just as good as it would be at any state university, I'm sure.

what are good dorms? I need to send in my housing form and just have no idea

does Madison have an honors program? I got into engineering and i heard that they do? if so how do you apply? is it a seperate app or are you automatically considered?

UW has one but not in engineering. They allow you to be in the LAS honors program.

The honors program doesn't really mean a whole lot. You can take honors courses even for honors credit without being in the program. I think you just get a special advisor from L&S and another work on your transcript.
