Hi everyone,
Yesterday I received notification that I accepted to UCLA as an Anthro major! It came as a complete shock and while I am ecstatic, at the same time I’m very worried. At the start of this quarter at my current CC, I had all but given up on transferring this fall and figured that I would have to stay another year because I have not completed a transferable math course. I had put on my application that I would take stats in the spring but I was not able to get my math up to speed enough to take the placement test with confidence that I would land in stats. I just wanted to know if it would be possible to either A. take stats in the summer or (preferably) B. take it in the fall at UCLA. Also, I dropped a humanities class that I said I was going to take (intro to pop culture) because I thought that I was going to be staying another year, and because the class format/time slot was not a good fit for me. The deadline to add/drop classes with an add code was yesterday and because I did not think I would be hearing from UCLA at all, I dropped the class on wednesday. Adding any classes at this point is out of the question. Because of the fact that I did not take math this quarter (5 units) and I dropped a class (4 units) this puts me 7 units under the 90 unit requirement to transfer. If UCLA were to allow me to take a math course there, could I take 2 classes in the summer to meet the 90 unit req?
I had/have a lot of personal things to deal with during the time of my application and right now and did not plan for these shifts in my intended course work. I have completed all of my major pre-reqs with excellent grades, and my GPA is currently at 3.75. I’ve worked very hard during my time at CC, and I’m just hoping that one math class isn’t going to completely ruin my chances of transferring this year.
