all hell will break loose.........

try a couple of billion years....

on a lighter note- i read this in the papers today-

"a suicide bomber in kashmir blew himself up, however there were no casualties and the damage to property is minimal.."

what a f u c k i n g IDIOT!!!!LOL!! he blew himself and didnt kill anyone else!! he deserved it!!

what a f u c k i n g IDIOT!!!!LOL!! he blew himself and didnt kill anyone else!! he deserved it!!

he he!!, i think thats what all the suicide bombers deserve. but i always wonder how can they get so influence by their leaders who might be leading them astray and end their own life along with a few others! They cant be so naive. they can have their own judgement or is it just frustration with their own life and giving a meaning to their life by becoming a 'martyr'?

^ they are brainwashed as children. the only thing they are told is that "you will go to heaven if you kill infidels" and siilar ****. besides that most suicide bombers come from extremely poor families. and they are paid well o kill themselves.

saddam huessien had an office in bagdad that would offer 40,000$ to anyone who would volunteer to be a suicide bomber and kill israeli's. thats a HUGE amount of money for most people in the world.

Not gonna happen. Quite simply put, the most powerful military nations in the world have too much to lose and will not engage each other and smaller, militarily weak countries can be defeated quickly. France, Russia, the UK and the US can pretty much nuke every spot on Earth. China and Israel are pretty dangerous too. Europe is united, so no war will come out from Europe. The Americas are not likely to get into any serious armed conflict. African is unstable, but does not pose a military threat. The Pacific rim is pretty stable, with China, India, Japan and Australia makring the extremities. there are a couple of trouble spots, like the Middle East, the Koreas, China/Tibet/Taiwan and of course, India/Pakistan. But none of those pose a serious threat, even though most of those countries have nukes!

If there is one country that could take a turn for the worse, it is Russia (and the ex-Soviet Republics). They are large, they have resources, they have nukes and technological capability and they are unstable and corrupt. Europe and the US must work hard to stabalize them. That is priority #1 as far as I am concerned. And Africa needs to be given an equally high level of attention.

^ 40000 $, thats a lot of money, yea considering the situations i.e., poverty and childhood, many ppl would do that.
i had read in a newspaper some time ago that people who had perfectly normal childhood but did not get good jobs joined terrorist organisations in kashmir just for the money. they were well educated and knew the difference between good and evil but still. So this means that economic development and decline of poverty can directly reduce terrorism! and i think it is a fact
An organisation named RAND had a study on this and they came out with the conclusion that yes eco. dev can reduce terrorism. So, instead of spending millions behind terrorism war, the countries can spend that money in the development of the regions were terrorism is striving! i know its not simple but definitely a more viable option than waging war with them!

Personally, I think it's time for a change in superpower status.

Like most other empires in history, the US has a decadent mass culture, is full of corruption, hated by "rogue states," the target of external and internal attacks, and the victim of factionalization among its citizens.

In a few decades, the Mandate of Heaven will be given, once again, to the Middle Kingdom.

I don't think this will lead to a war, but the US will be thought of as the New UK.

I don't think the US is going anywhere. I hope not. But Europe will emerge as an equal, as will China and maybe even India. All this in the next 50 years. So by 2050, you are going to have a multipolar world.

india can become a superpower, if it manages to curb some of its enemies and by enemies i mean its bureaucracy, corruption and illiteracy. Also the youth of the country has to step up to do something for the country, otherwise, india=superpower will remain a fairy tale

Nukes are not that huge of a threat in my mind... In the hands of say terrorists, yes they are terribly dangerous... However because of MAD no country will ever fire a nuke as an offensive action...

Alexandre... I agree with you about Europe. Seperatethe nations in Europe are never going to compete with the United States, however united, Europe will be a superpower.

China will become a full superpower if they leave communism... Signs are pointing that change is already making it's way into China, and my guess is that by 2050 it'll no longer be the PRC. I don't think India is going to become a superpower, I see that nation as having some serious problems...

As far as another European world war... I absolutly think that eventually it'll happen. I cannot believe that all European conflict has now ended for all time... Right now I think Europe has entered a period that is going to be peaceful, and is going to last for a while... However I promise you (though I don't know if it'll be in any of our lifetimes) that somebody will be born in Europe who manages to brainwash people and then goes on an expansionest trip.

I think the United States is going to remain a superpower for sometime to come just because of our location in the world... However our time shall come to an end as well eventually. Weather we full on fall, or we lose our superpower status, that'll take a pretty huge world event.

PS. Sorry about spelling, I typed this a 2:20am, and am tired.

well im indian and i dont think india will become a superpower. as a country we're just to damn corrupt and national pride is lacking- to say the LEAST.

hell just today i read in the papers that a Brigadier sold india's war plans to pakistan in 1965 for just Rs/20,000 (thats just $400) so that he could buy his wife fruit canning machines.

its people like this that make me want to go out and buy a machine gun.

yet despite all the corruptions we are making progress economically, maybe there is hope...

Allena, I am pretty sure Western Europe all the way to Poland and Hungray, cannot produce a leader that will plunge the continent into another WW. There simply are too many checks and balances and too much to lose. But like I said, countries like Ukraine, Russia and the ...istans are unstable and could pose a problem.

I agree that ida is not likely to become a super power if it maintains its current approach. However, with 1.2 billion people, if India were to find a way to turn things around, watch out!

Europe needs to realize that in order to succeed, France and Germany must lead. And France and Germany must realize that in order for them to lead Europe successfully, they have to reform some of their economic systems...not as drastically as the US and the British, but at least a middle ground...maybe like the Netherlands.

^ well france didn't help the EU too much yesterday did it?

China might become a super power if they abandon confuciusm and their cultural etiquettes. Like deng said: "it doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as he can catch mice."

"well im indian and i dont think india will become a superpower. as a country we're just to damn corrupt and national pride is lacking- to say the LEAST."

kudos i'llbeback, i can't agree more. (btw, i'm not indian)

I really dont see how the balance of power in the world will change too much unless there is a war.

ummmmmm.....most suicide bombers come from very well off families....the Bin Laden family is one of the richest in the world......although he isn't a suicide bomber he is a terrorist.....many extremist militants aren't "poor." Ofcourse the lower class tends to be more extreme when it comes to faith than the upper economic sectors and do participate...but it's not about income...it's about what they grew up learning...and they look to the Quran as justification for such actions, when, by comiting such crimes, they actually violate such a holy Book....I am Muslim btw

I agree with those who say that the U.S. will maintain its supremacy in the world for quite a while. China is certainly growing as an economic power; it is pursuing the kind of gradual reforms that the Soviet Union should have followed in the 1980s. However, the vast majority of Chinese don't live well by Western standards. I'm not sure how far the peoples of Europe will move towards unification; some level of nationalism still exists, and the French people just rejected the EU constitution. In any case, I believe that the U.S. would resist any threat to its economic and military dominance. For some reason, the U.S. seems determined to maintain military capability at an unreasonable level.

As far as World Warr III, such a conflict would inevitably involve nuclear weapons, and would therefore be very short and very destructive. As long as the major nations have rational leadership and there are procedures in place to prevent the hasty use of those weapons, I think that such a conflict is unlikely. Technology is continuously making traditional large-scale wars imore and more mpractical.

There is a theory proposed by a few economists that argues that Chinese economy is NOT growing at all. They argue that the Chinese economy is fundmentally too weak to support a huge growth. (7% a year) Also, they pointed out that 85% of the Chinese population still lives in poverty, so how can 15% of the population generates so much growth? Its an interesting idea..........
