will withdrawing a class hurt my chances of transferring?

im currently a college freshman at a cuny school. it is now midway through the semester and i've decided to withdraw from my precal class.

i don't know if i made the right decision. i have only taken 2 test. both of which i failed but lowest being dropped.

technically i only taken 1 test and score a 50.

anyways, because i withdrew 1 of my 4 classes, i am officially a part-time student with 9 credits.

my question is how would it affect me as a transfer student if i decide to transfer after 2 years with an associate degree to a university or NYU (private college)?

will the college overlook the "withdrawal"?
can it be erased?

i wont make a habit of it. i just had to because i didnt want to settle for a C or lower.

any answers will be greatly appreciated
cheers!

I am in a similar situation as you. I am doing poorly in a couple classes this year (freshman btw) and I was considering to withdraw from at least one. But a W looks bad when trying to transfer, and some schools have told me that they won’t accept anyone with a W on their transcript. They would rather see a C or a D letter grade than a W.

oh no. im guessing i have no chance of transferring? :(

ask the colleges. Most colleges will accept people with a W, but some won’t.

Lol Raven, what colleges are those? Ivy leagues have taken transfers before with a W.

It usually is not a problem if you withdraw from a course, but how many times you do it. A few W’s will not hurt you, compared to someone with 12.
