I am trying to decide between william and mary and bc for an economics major and pre med. My ultimate goal is medical school so I want a school that has a strong placement into medical school as well as good undergrad opportunities. I am closer to bc and my dad is a bc alum so he wants me to go there but I like william and mary too. I know they are pretty much equal in terms of academics but I am stuck.

I would say W&M is stronger for academics, but both schools are very, very different in vibe…
One basic question: how much would each cost before loans and after scholarships? What’s your parents’ budget?

Either one will get you into med school, if you keep up with the grades. Go with your instinct. Visit each and find out if you like country or urban living.

If you do well at either school you will be in great shape. Go to accepted students day at the two schools and go to the one where you feel you’d be happiest. Consider the differences between the schools in terms of things like which location you prefer, if you prefer a Jesuit college or not, if you want bigger time sports, if you like Greek life etc.
