My daughter is trying to decide between Duke and William and Mary. We're from California so she's visiting each campus for the first time this week. Obviously, Duke is bigger and newer, while William and Mary is smaller and more historic. Could someone who is familiar with both schools give us a comparison? I'm interested in how the schools compare in terms of their student bodies -- ie the mix of kids who go there -- social life -- and academics. My daughter is interested in English, languages -- especially Spanish -- history, anthropology and global studies. She is very sweet, a bit shy and needs to work on her assertiveness. She worked really hard in high school and wants to go to a school where she'll have a good social life as well as a great education. I'm wondering which school would provide the best academic and social fit for her.

Both schools would be great for your daughter. Duke is more greek and have freshman on East campus riding the bus(tough on rainy days).

Durham and Williamsburg are very different. If she loves BBall than Duke has to be the choice.

Good luck
