William and Mary recommended classes...

I know William and Mary recommends you take Calculus and Physics but there is no way I can take those classes as I am intending on majoring in English and am awful at math and science. Should I even apply? I have a stellar resume and a 94 GPA and am working on getting my SAT up

Bump

definitely still apply! I didn’t take physics (not a science person) and still got in

@polkadot610 oh perfect!! By any chance, can you answer a question I have? There’s a stereotype at W&M that everyone is boring and ugly (obviously not true and shallow) but what is your take on that? I’m not a huge party person, but I want to get out of my shell a little bit during college. What do you think

@Savannah23 I actually just got in this admission cycle (class of 2021) so I haven’t been on campus yet. I certainly hope that’s not true though haha

@polkadot610 ahh! Congratulations! Haha don’t listen to the rumors, I hope you have a ton of fun!

Yes you should definitely apply! Take what you can manage. I have friends that gotten in without taking physics senior year by opting to take Envrionmental Science. I myself opted to take less rigorous versions of those my senior year because I knew it was not my strength, I had previously gotten poor grades in math, and I still gotten in. Those are more “strong recommendations” becuase they don’t want to see students

As for your second question, I address this in several of my other threads, so check those out but in short: W&M students are very interesting (some of the most interesting that I have ever met) and honestly the second part made me chuckle because I am sitting next to my girlfriend as I am writing this who would argue otherwise haha. Trust me, I read the same internet rumors before I applied, I encourage you to visit, and see the place it actually is haha.

My D did not take calculus and was admitted this cycle OOS RD.

@shawnspencer you are just the best! Thank you so much

@baxter ah! Congrats to her! Thank you for your comment!
