William & Mary Class of 2019 ED Applicants Discussion

Wow….December 10th? UGH!!!

Keeping the calm. Lol

No idea how I’m going to make it to the 10th. Even tomorrow afternoon sounds far away! D:

It could be sooner than the 10th! If anything, it’s a good sign that they’re narrowing the window.

I’m probably wrong but I feel like they’re holding the decisions so they can release them with the transfer decisions.

@ribbonroad224‌ Sounds like it. From Twitter: “@prose_11 As of right now we hope to be able to send out both spring transfer and ED decisions on the same day”

this is actually very very very frustrating. i don’t understand how decisions are taking longer this year than in previous years. They have the same number of applicants, didn’t have any date extension, and didn’t have any major storms or inclement weather. This is all very confusing and perplexing to me.

Just FYI, in many of their blogs they’ve mentioned that we will know the morning of decision day that the emails are on the way. I was told by the dean that between about 8 and 9 EST they’ll have the blog post up, entitled: Decisions, Decisions. It will detail how the letters are sent, when to expect them, what to do if there’s a problem, etc. So we’ll know the morning they come out that they’re on their way. No blog post up, no decision tonight. Just thought y’all might want to know, to save your refresh button for the day they’re emailed. I know I’ll be hitting it every 27 seconds on decision day. It HAS to be this week. I can’t wait any longer!

They are not holding decisions:
" it’s fair to say that early December is within the first two weeks of the month. We know everyone is anxious and we are working as fast as we can but this process takes time and it needs to be done correctly. We promise once we are ready to launch decisions we will. We won’t sit on them or anything."

@daniil450 Yes, but they’ve already finished ED committee and have moved on to spring transfer committee. They also tweeted that they hope to release ED & spring transfer decisions on the same day (which, from looking at old blog post dates, I don’t think they’ve done before?). I’m sure there could be a good reason that they haven’t released yet, but it honestly seems like they’re just holding them.

That’s really helpful @Valiente. I’ve been refreshing constantly! I agree with @coco5945‌ that this is very frustrating; the process itself we all have undergone so we knew we would be waiting a while. But I am a bit unsettled by this; there’s seemingly no reason as to why they’re being withheld–no bad weather, extensions, or other event that would warrant a later date on the decision–so it’s just amplifies the anxiety and urgency. Perhaps they’ll tweet or post something on Twitter, Admit It!, or some other medium to explain the delay. But nonetheless, hopefully it’s just a little longer you guys! Keep hope!

@ribbonroad224 On both the twitter and blog they mention that there are many steps that need to be taken after committee. While most of the process is finished, everything still needs to be finalized.

But yeah the wait is grueling :(

Do you know if William and Mary considers DE classes equivalent to AP?

I took 3 AP’s junior year (only got to take one exam due to scheduling error from school system) and 1 comm college class that year as well. This year I’m taking 4 DE classes at comm college. In the end, I have 3 AP’s and 5 Comm college classes. Would William and Mary look at that like 8 advanced courses?

Admissions just clarified the December 10th statement:
@Kelly, the tweet actually just reads that both sets of decisions will be released by December 10th. As we mentioned in an earlier response, if we’re able to release both sets of decisions at the same time we will (which means both processes would complete simultaneously). If that doesn’t happen we will release them separately. We are not holding the ED release. That process is still ongoing. We are working through all of the final steps that allow us to launch decisions.”

@daniil450 where did they say that?

@ribbonroad224 In a reply to a comment on the second ED committee blog.

@jpvn2015 They say it depends on what your school considers more rigorous (usually AP). DE classes still look rigorous, but obviously they aren’t the most rigorous course load option if your school offers AP’s in the same subject areas.

Could everyone in this thread agree to participate in an decision results thread regardless of acceptance? I never found one for ED and feel that it could really help prospective students in the next cycle.

Feeling better that they’re not sitting on our decisions! Thanks for the update @daniil450‌
What do you all think the release date will be now? Their announcement about Dec. 10th makes me unsure because it is earlier than the 15th which is good, but does that mean it will more likely be close to or on the 10th or not?
