Williams Class of 2018 ED

I tried it too on Firefox, that link doesn’t seem to work. The only available link is the one in our mailboxes, namely the link on the receipt (you could bookmark it for later uses).

FYI Son tried today to log in to the application site. He couldn’t get it to work, and asked me to help. From my standpoint, as we always write everything down, nothing is working. Not his previous login, not the new login. Nothing. Everything shows as “incorrect password.”

If anyone else is getting this, just didn’t want you to feel alone.

Jesus, when did this thread get hijacked by obsessive parents? these threads are usually for applicants…

Hi Jack. This is my own account. My son’s account is separate. He has posted many times over the past year and prefers not to associate his acceptance or rejection or deferral from Williams ED with all of his prior posts on this thread.

I actually recommended this to him because he has many hundreds of posts, and I am aware of the adverse consequences that can come of people backtracking other users and their stats or other things in order to do things that can be damaging.

So, this is my own account. It’s for admissions only. Be amazed only that it took me so long to create an actual account. I am a long time reader and lurker. Information here is bar non the best inside information.

Hi Everyone! Hope that everyone’s senior year is going well. Just wondering, do we know if more or less students will be accepted due to the fall in applications?

So worried about December, but it’s good to know it’s out of my control now! Just sort of wondering what the odds are right now (550 applications at the moment, if 250 were accepted it would be a 44 percent acceptance rate ED). That assumes the number is held steady for ED.

questionaut, this document seems to suggest that the number they accept is somewhat correlated with the number that applies. based on that, and common sense, I’d guess that the school won’t lower its standards based on slightly less competition in what is basically a preliminary application pool

Does anyone know when the email notification will be sent?

The Williams Record article says December 12th.

juriya, on some of your other posts you said your ACT was 34 and your weighted GPA was 4.3… hmmmmmmm… :stuck_out_tongue:
If I assume all your stats are true, then I think you have very decent shot if you apply ED.

@juriya: I think you stand a pretty good chance with those stats! But it’s Williams after all, nobody can tell for sure.
I’m an intl student asking for aid, so I’m not even keeping my hopes up haha. Good luck guys. :)

Did anyone else find the window essay particularly hard to write? It seems like it is designed to throw us off.

one williams source says we find out dec 12, while another says the 15th. given that we submitted our apps earlier than most colleges, I’d like to believe we find out earlier, but does anyone know for sure when we will get decisions? I need this information to coordinate my exam week…

dec 12: [Early Decision applicants experience Common App issues ? The Williams Record](http://williamsrecord.com/2013/11/20/early-decision-applicants-experience-common-app-issues/)

dec 15: [Apply | Admission](http://admission.williams.edu/apply/)

Jack, I was wondering the same thing. I think Dec 12 is when we get notified by email, and Dec 15 is our “official” notification date when we get our rejection/deferral/acceptance whateverz by snail mail… at least, that’s what I’m hoping.

Correct me if I’m wrong

LOL, those earlier numbers were products of my optimism
Thanks for the response! These next ten days will be hell…

The first seven official members of the Williams College class of 2018 were notified on Monday. Good luck to everyone waiting for the 12th!!!

Do you guys know if the essay and supplement carry a lot of weight in the decisions? I found the supplement topic really interesting, anyone else?

I think for a school like Williams, academic achievements (SAT, GPA, etc.) come first. If you have read the Princeton Review book, there is an insider note that mentions this fact (it was sth like “high grades and test scores increase admissibility”). But that’s totally not to say that essays don’t matter! They do. A well-crafted essay definitely puts you at some kind of advantage if it makes admission officers like you.

Hey guys!! Williams Ed as well…so nervous! Only 7-10 days left…
